PONO Nursery School
The spatial design of “PONO Nursery School” in Atsugi, Kanagawa is another example of our art direction. We designed the space in line with the school’s principle to foster children’s independence and individuality. We decorated the space with colorful patterns consisting of 6 symbolic marks which represents a child of each year between 0 and 5 years old as well as 1 mark which represents the teachers. We created these patterns with the aim of making the children happy and enhancing their enjoyment of their time in the school.

Note
“‘PONO Nursery School’ has a clear educational policy in which they classify children according to their age and the teachers take care of them based on their developmental stage. In line with this policy, we designed 8 symbolic marks: 6 to represent each year of the children’s development from 0 to 5, 1 to represent teachers and 1 to represent the school. Then, we decorated the space with these marks. The image on the left was designed using these 8 marks, which shows the children and teachers supported by the school.”
